Bird Watching

Lake Sonfon
This is a beautiful Lake and serves as a reservoir for different species of birds. Thousand of birds migrate to this Lake everyday because it is a complete habitat with floras and faunas littered everywhere. Very close to the lake from the hot burning sun, is found a safe and cool environment ideal for the birds. Bird lovers should be well equipped with cameras or camcorder so that they will take back a beautiful scene of their experience.

It can be found in the Yisaia, Yara and Yanwulia in the Koinadugu district, North of Sierra Leone. No accommodation is available for overnight sleepers except they go back to Kabala were accommodation will be found. If heading up from the lake, take a passable road towards Benekoro, where you can walk towards the Lake. To explore the area, hook up with a Local guide in Koinadugu. The journey by road with four wheel drive takes approximately seven hours.
