Ethiopia Land of Origins

Addis Ababa, March 6, 2017

The Ethiopian Tourism Organization (ETO) is excited to once again participate in The World’s Leading Travel Trade Show, ITB Berlin. You will find us at stand 21A/129 in the African Pavilion.
The following delegation from Ethiopia will be at ITB Berlin this year:
  • Her Excellency Hirut Wolde Mariam, the Ethiopian Minister of Culture & Tourism
  • His Excellency Solomon Tadesse, CEO of the Ethiopian Tourism Organization (ETO)
  • Ethiopian Airlines
  • Twenty two (22) tour operators from Ethiopia
As described by Lonely Planet, the largest travel guidebook publisher:
“Ethiopia is one of Africa's most beautiful countries and its landscapes are epic in both scale and beauty. Here is a place where you can trek more than 3000m above sea level (the Simien and Bale mountains) or visit the lowest place on the African continent, the Danakil Depression. In between, there are lush highlands and stirring deserts, vertiginous canyons and sweeping savannah, vast lakes and high plateaus. If you look hard enough, you'll also find landmarks of great significance, from the source of the Blue Nile to, again, the mesmerizingly desolate Danakil Depression, peppered with an astonishing 25% of Africa’s active volcanoes.”
Record number of visitors is coming to the country via Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s single Global carrier to over 90+ destinations worldwide. Ethiopia is also a historical foundation of the African Union (AU), an organization to 52+ African member countries. It has made Addis Ababa the center for conference tourism concurring with its acquired name “Capital of Africa”. The tourism sector contributes to the 2020 Millennium Development Goals (MDG) to make Ethiopia a middle-income country. Additionally, Ethiopia’s Olympic Gold Medalist Haile Gebrselassie has created tri-annual “Great Run” giving prominence as Ethiopia being the birthplace of runners.
At the Ethiopian Tourism Organization (ETO) stand, there will be Ethiopian travel experts to answer all your questions and to help you plan your trip. When you visit the Ethiopian stand you will have a glimpse of the people, the culture, the endemic wildlife, historical sites, archeological discovery destinations, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, lodging and accommodations displayed via media presentation.  Last but not least, you will experience the Ethiopian coffee ceremony, which is unique to Ethiopia. You will therefore have a lasting taste to activate your curiosity about Ethiopia, Land of Origins.

ETO, together with Ethiopian Airlines will hold an in-depth press conference on March 9th 2017 at 1:00 pm at CityCube Berlin (R6, Level 3). All travel agents, tour operators and trade media are invited.
