WELCMpass - the new visitor's tax app
Guide2 GmbH is a company founded in 2016 and based in Tating/ Eiderstedt (district of Nordfriesland, Schleswig-Holstein). The company provides innovative digital services in tourism for guests, businesses and communities. The core competence of the company is the integration of different data sources and technologies (such as SCA, iBeacons and Geofencing) for the provision of tailor-made solutions for tourists, for tourism oriented communities as well as for businesses in tourism regions.
These solutions require complex and diverse know-how, not only in the IT area, but also in the areas of human-technology interaction & usability, tourism management & tourism economy, data protection & media law. The company therefore employs a permanent interdisciplinary staff on the one hand, and on the other hand it cooperates with other associated partners, including various scientific institutions.
The core tasks in the company are currently the development of APIs (WEB and APP technologies) in the area of RegioAPP and visitor tax and registration technologies.
The Regio-App went live in 2016 and has been continuously developed since then. It offers day-trippers and overnight guests comprehensive information about infrastructure, shopping, restaurants, events and much more in their holiday resort. It provides regional companies with an inexpensive, wide-reaching distribution channel. Not only can companies be presented as a whole, but individual products can also be specifically promoted and sold. The Regio-App also offers an up-to-date overview of events and has interfaces to the most popular social media applications. Numerous filter options allow a targeted search for offers, events, sights, but also for infrastructure such as electric charging stations, mailboxes, toilets and much more. The use of the Regio-App started in some communities of Eiderstedt. Today it is in use in various municipalities in North Frisia and Dithmarschen.
The visitor's tax technology WELCMpass has been developed and rolled out since the beginning of 2019 as part of a project funded by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture in the model project "Digitization of Rural Areas". The technology, which is also available as a WEB version and APP, offers tourists (day visitors and overnight guests) and professionals as well as residents the simple handling of the visitor's tax and registration form, combined with numerous advantages such as discounts and benefits at regional providers such as restaurants, shops, event organisers etc. The municipalities benefit from simplified visitor tax management, an improved income situation and increased transparency of income. Interfaces between an administration tool created for the municipalities and the app enable convenient maintenance and updating of all relevant data. Landlords of holiday accommodation are also relieved, as the visitor's tax is paid directly to the municipality and the completed registration form is made available to the landlords and municipalities directly by the guest. A unique selling point of the application is the comprehensive consideration of day guests. In connection with the above-mentioned advantages for the guests, the attractiveness of the visitor's tax payment and thus the income situation of the municipalities is improved. The app is currently in use in several pilot communities.
