Two countries, five nature parks, one destination - Meseta Ibérica

The Meseta Ibérica Transboundary Biosphere Reserve, located in Trás-os-Montes and provinces of Salamanca and Zamora, is an immense territory that unites Portugal and Spain. A continuous space that, regardless of all administrative divisions, is imposed by its shared identity and heritage. From the mountains that flank Sanabria, up to the south bank of the Douro River, Bragança to Salamanca and from Culebra to Tua, the Reserve is a unique territory in the European context, with values common cultural and natural resources.

Five natural parks (Lago de Sanabria, Montesinho, Douro Internacional, Arribes del Duero and Vale do Tua) and dozens of spaces integrated in the Natura Network, the Azibo, Sabor river, Maças / Manzanas river or Serra da Culebra, preserve an extraordinary natural heritage
and witness an ancient human presence that still give us the best examples of the symbiosis between the Man and the Biosphere, of human communities as part of the ecosystem.
